Jane C. Wrobel, 91, co-owner of hobby shop in Black Rock

Jane C. Wrobel, of Buffalo, former co-owner and operator of a hobby shop in Black Rock, died Tuesday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. She was 91.

Born in Buffalo, the sixth of 12 children, the former Jane Mazur attended Assumption Elementary School and worked at the former Gates Laundry.

Mrs. Wrobel joined her husband, Edward J., in operating the Hobby Lodge, a toy and model shop on Grant Street near Amherst Street, after they were married in 1945 and helped run it until his death in 2001.

A lifelong parishioner at Assumption Catholic Church in Black Rock, she was active in the Mothers Club and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She coordinated a fundraising candy bar sale with the Mothers Club to help acquire a vehicle for the nuns at Assumption Elementary School.

Until last year, she continued to volunteer at the church’s Tuesday Bingo games and helped count Sunday tithes. She also was active in the Alhambra Women’s Sultanas.

Survivors include a son, Edward J. Jr.; three daughters, Margaret Witkowski, Mary Jane Burgio and Pamela Platek; two brothers, Albin Mazur and Richard Mazur; a sister, Barbara Vick; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday June 2nd, in Assumption Church, 435 Amherst St.
